The Turkish Historical Society organized a series titled “Dialogues on the Philosophy and History of Science” to bring forth discussions in the field of philosophy and the history of science, aiming to foster a foundation for dialogue. The third speaker of this series was Dr. Gaye Danışan from Istanbul University, delivering a talk titled “Interpreting Ottoman History Through Calendars (1550 – 1710)”. In this presentation, the significance of Ottoman calendars as a source for studying history and the history of science was discussed, drawing upon various examples, including the discoveries from our project completed in December 2022.
