The international congress titled “Channels of Transmission of Astronomical Knowledge in the Ottoman World (14th-18th Centuries)” organized in collaboration with the Department of History of Science at Istanbul University and the French Institute of Anatolian Studies (IFEA) will take place in Istanbul from November 21st to 24th, 2023.
This international symposium aims to investigate the development, method selection, and production history of astronomical techniques in the Ottoman world from the 14th to the 18th centuries, including all territories within the Mediterranean and the Ottoman Empire.
Intended to bring together a wide audience, the congress will host academics and researchers in Hellenic, Byzantine, Iranian, Arab, Ottoman, and Turkish studies, as well as experts in the history of astronomy techniques in Europe.
